My Story

Hi, I'm Kirsty and this is my reason why,

On the 23rd Feb 23 I gave birth to the most beautiful chunky baby girl Florence Ada weighing 9lb 9oz she was just perfect.

She settled in to our family just like we knew she would, she was a great sleeper and such a happy smiley baby she loved her older sisters, Nancy now 2 and Farah 12 yrs and always gave them smiles.

On Friday the 12th May any parents worst nightmare became our reality, Florence went to sleep and didn't wake up. We still have no answers to why and unfortunately SIDS does still effect approx 200 infants each year in the UK.

We had never heard of 4Louis before our devastating loss but we were given a memory box from our local hospital in W.Yorks after loosing Florence which contained lots of special thoughtful items which enabled us to have Florence's hand & footprints taken for us to keep forever and other items we will cherish forever. This box brought us comfort in the worst time of our lives and will continue to do in the future and for that we are truly grateful. Shortly after Florence's passing we were lucky enough to raise approx £3k which we donated to 4louis to purchase 30+ memory boxes for other bereaved families and also a cuddle cot.

This cuddle cot is a tremendous piece of equipment which enables bereaved families extra time with their baby after they have passed away by helping to keep their babies in a cool environment which is sadly needed after they've passed. This equipment unfortunately was something that wasn't available to us when Florence died which left us feeling like we were been rushed out of the hospital leaving Florence behind which we know inevitable we had to do but if a cuddle cot was available this would of given us more valuable time together with her at what we can only describe as the worst day of our lives. Hospitals lucky enough to get donated these cooling devices usually get given them on maternity wards which in our situation was no good to us as we were in paediatric A&E.

We have now proudly donated a cuddle cot to our local paediatric A&E department in memory of Florence but would also love to be able to donate a cuddle blanket which works the same but is for toddlers+. These cool blankets are £5k so we would love between myself and the mob we've talked in to joining us to raise this money and make this donation happen! It would be amazing and be of so much use for families sadly finding themselves in the same devastating position as us.

Myself, my partner, mother & father in laws, sis in law and close friend are all taking part in this half marathon.

May I add I am the most unfit person ever as are the rest of them apart from my partner and his friend so this really is a big challenge for us and completely out of our comfort zones....please please get behind us and dig deep. Every penny counts, as does every share 🙏 💕

We will continue to parent Florence daily anyway we can and we will make her proud 💕
