Skydive for Charlie

My Story

On 8th February 2024, we experienced an unimaginable loss that has forever changed our lives. Just one day before he was due to light up our world, our beautiful baby boy Charlie was born sleeping on 11th February. During this profoundly painful time, we found ourselves in the caring arms of the midwives at St James Hospital in Leeds. There, the incredible midwives Amelia, Jude & Ebony went above and beyond to help us capture precious memories of our son that we could keep forever. They carefully collected Charlie's hand and footprints, locks of his soft hair, and various other memorial items, placing them lovingly into a memory box that we discovered was a generous gift from the 4louis charity. This extraordinary organisation also provided a cuddle cot, allowing us precious time to spend with Charlie, to hold him close, and to say our heartfelt goodbyes in our own time.

This profound gesture of kindness and compassion has propelled me to take on a skydive in honor of our cherished Charlie and to raise funds for 4louis, the skydive will take place on August 17th. This charity not only supports hospitals in offering bereavement suites for grieving families but also ensures that in the midst of unspeakable sorrow, families have tangible memories to cherish forever. In the weeks following our loss, we painfully realised that without the intervention of 4louis, we would have left the hospital with nothing but our grief. But instead, we left with a memory box filled with tokens of our son's existence - a small yet tremendously significant reminder of our boy. This skydive is our way of giving back, ensuring that other families facing this heartbreak have the same opportunity to create lasting memories. We invite you to join me in supporting this incredible cause, a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. Your contributions will help keep the memories of our dear Charlie, and so many like him, alive forever.
